Losses at the beneficiation stage are estimated at about 14.5% (tailings) and the additional net losses at the stage of further chromite ore processing, in particular the production of ferrochromium, are 11.5% (slag). Therefore, the total recovery efficiency of chromium at the mining and production stages is 74% (Johnson et al., 2006a,b).
